Meet Barb

The habits we carry as adults are often shaped at a young age. My love for organization started in “small town” America growing up on a farm in Michigan. My mom, always keeping a tidy home, showed me the art and practicality of organization. 

My sense of structure and order extended beyond things to people as I started my career. With a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and a Master’s Degree in Labor Relations, I worked in human resources for Fortune 500 companies. While I excelled in helping large companies with organizational design, development, and productivity, I liked the thought of using my talents to help others in a more personal way. 

I left the busy corporate work setting but took along my love for working with people and coupled that with my knack for organization. I saw first-hand the effects that clutter and disorganization has on people like increased stress and overwhelm. Clutter also impacts relationships, work productivity, and budgets. I realized I could help bring harmony to people’s homes and lives through organization, so the studio began.

My name is Barb Proia, and I am the founder and COO (Chief Organizing Officer) at YOU. Organized. by Barb.

A few other tidbits you should know about me:

I’ve lived in the Tampa Bay area since 1991 with my husband and two kids, who have now left the nest.

I love spending my leisure time on the beach with my nose in a good historical fiction book.

I believe in serving where I live and volunteer with hospital and school causes.

On my bucket list are traveling to Alaska and learning American Sign Language.
